My 11 year old son learned to program in C using that book - he found it
a pretty easy read.
I know they had copies of "Absolute Beginner's Guide to C" in the Cedar
Hill branch of Barnes & Nobel less than six months ago - they probably
still have copies there right now.

Practice is VERY important for learning to program - even experienced
programmers get better with every program they write and have to keep at
it to stay 'sharp'. I've been programming since the early 1970's - and
still, when I look back at code I wrote a year ago, I think "Geez - I
wrote *THAT*?".
Typing in programs from books is pretty pointless though.
