Sheesh.  I got the answer to this problem on the Ximian support web site
after having to do an indepth search for it.  It's a simple problem that
I now have corrected...you just have to pull the tasklist left pane all
the way to the right from the calendar window and the problem is gone. 
It only happens the first time you select the calendar after upgrading
from a version further back than 1.2.

My question about the new version though still stands.  Where did you
find the newer version if the Ximian site isn't offering it (you'd think
you'd find it there before Tucows or some other site)?
