[NTLUG:Discuss] boot failed on install cd

The box is a Dell Demension XPS T700r (more details upon request)
The problem is booting from a Linux install CD, and the error message is 
"boot failed"
I have swapped out CD-ROM drives and the results remain consistant.
I have tried CDs from "boxed sets" and from sets burned to CD-R disk, 
either as copies of original "boxed sets", or from downloads.
The only set that booted (and by the way, it successfully completed the 
install) was a set I made from ISO images I downloaded for Mandrake 9.1

For the purposes at hand (specific testing I have to do) I really need 
to get Red Hat 7.1 loaded on that box (my original "boxed set" will not 
boot on this machine, while they will on other machines).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
