just a note on this... I trashed a new system doing a manual
update ( luckily, I had already backed up my / partition and
had /root2 ready to go ). BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD, BAD things
happen if you try and update the i386 glibc package on a i686
box. Are you 110% sure that you updated the right glibc rpm
on your system.
