Since the error actually happened to me (I work with/for Chris), I can say 
that "no, I didn't think of that".  I'll have to try it if I ever (hopefully 
not) have to do another RH9.0 install on a DL380.

I'm just really peaved that it booted from the CD, then "lost" it when I tried 
to pick the install device (plan A).  It would not do a network install either 
(plan B).  I fianlly succeeded by first installing Suse 8.2, which had no 
problems BTW, and used that to copy the ISO images to the disk, and then 
installed using the hard drive as the install media (plan C).  If plan C had 
failed, I was ready to give up.  But I guess I've got a plan D if need be, 
though I can't imagine what that would make a difference; but then I also 
can't imagine why it would "lose" the CD and it did.  Grrr!
