I have been using gentoo for about a month now, and just love it. The
documentation is great, the forums on gentoo's site are helpful, and the
portage system is beautiful. I have tried red hat, mandrake, suse, and
hated all of them, Gentoo is the bomb. Sure you have to have a lot of
patience and a high speed network connection, but it's worth all of that
to have something that after a week of setting up, just works. Not to
mention it's a great learning tool for newbie's like myself. You have
to do most of it yourself, but after a while it just makes since.

Sorry to have a gentoo love fest, but it's that good.

I've eyed Gentoo, plan to jump in sometime this next time horizon.
I'm not a rank nubie, but not yet a guru, and want to learn a few more
tricks. I'd like to do some optimization to existing boxes first.

What sites do people like for sources of info on optimizing
performance
of linux?

Chris, would this make a good NTLUG presentation?
