Hrm.  I'm using an ext3 FS and have never had any problem.  So far as
I'm concerned, it's the best thing since sliced bread.  I've had several
system crashes, power outages, etc and never had any trouble with
recovery.

What would cause you to lose your file systems like that simply by
switching to reiserfs?  Keep in mind, all my experience is with est3 and
have never run reiserfs.
