I'll have to do some testing on that - in the meantime, I broke some 
stuff and wound up reinstalling the OS.  I let it take the default 
graphic setting for resolution and colors, and "vga=788" is what I found 
in /etc/lilo.conf.  The GUI shutdown/reboot/logout seems to be working, 
but like I said - I'll have to do some testing on that, and then later 
I'll try changing stuff to see what happens.
