Yep... gimp is cool... I think as long as you've got a tif file you
can take it to g3 with the normal fax utilities (hylafax or other).
I've only done some fax sending as a test... and I never tried
to see about integrating it with my scanner, but I would think
it wouldn't be too difficult.  Are you saying that sane somehow
handles the glue to get it out through the modem ala fax?

Yep.. many do.  I'm in the process of setting a fax printer/mailer
setup (under Linux) for the folks at Presco.  This allows them to
just print/mail from their Windoze boxes and have it go out.
