[NTLUG:Discuss] Mandrake 9.0 rescue

I had several hardware failures and ended up replacing my MB, CPU and Floppy drive.   
I have a goofy system.  
My Mandrake 9.0 if on hdb1 and my boot disk was a casualty of the crash.  My back up boot disk comes back unbootable.  
How can I boot into the system.    
I do have Mandrake 8.1 on hda5 with a good boot disk.   
Can I use the MD 8.1 boot floppy and adjust the boot device to access MD9.0?   The kernel is different.
Any help.
