Hi Thomas.

Once I get one of the stock kernels properly booted,
yes, it runs ok.  But the stock kernels are missing
support for about half the hardware.  Also,
powermanagement support is missing, which is kind of
desired as the the system in question is a laptop.

As for /etc/modules.conf, what I am I looking for?

I have not modified it since it was installed with
the stock kernel.
