Howdy,
   The only old world mac officially supported is the Beige G3, as you 
say.  There is pretty good third party support for other Macs.  But, alas, 
they require a 1 meg L2 cache for some reason I don't understand.  If you 
need a pointer, contact me off list.

I looked up the hardware requirements for OS X and the only old world 
system listed is the Beige Power Mac Mini Tower. I saw nothing about the 
desktop Beige Power Mac. The hardware requirements may have changed from OS 
X 1.1 to 1.2.
