Thanks for the offer.  I've decided to give the Fujitsu Stylistic a try.
There's a kernel module available for the stylus, so it should work out
ok.  I'll probably do what I do on my desktops: use ratpoison and xterm.
I'm looking forward to reading ebooks on something larger than a Palm
