I don't think he was abusive - I think it was warranted.

Sort of like "Go back to the UK. Take your smart mouth with you." has a
lot to do with Linux and doesn't seem a little angry?  If you are
shooting for advocacy of free software that's globally developed, watch
your feet.  

This sort of thing is certainly not what I expected of this list when I
joined - I expected an environment that might get me a RTFM answer, but
also expected to be able to give and get help.  I'm  afraid that any
request for help might be lost in the noise at this point.
