[NTLUG:Discuss] Anyone got a new Radeon (with the just released drivers)?

I was just in the market for a new (top of the line) graphics card and
was looking Nvidia or ATI. I always buy Nvidia because they had great
cards and had great Linux support. I was buying the new card for a
couple of new games that were coming out pretty soon. (Doom III, HL2,
EQ2) I looked at the Nvidia cards, and then read all HL2/Valve stuff
and started looking at the ATI cards. It seems alot of what Valve was
saying is being disputed not only by Nvidia, but others as well. They
also noted that the drivers used in the test where the (Nvidia's) 45
drivers that they stopped working on months ago for the 50 drivers that
have better support for DX9 and better shader support. I ended up just
buying the the eVGA Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 256MB. ZipZoomFly.com
(formerly GoogleGear.com) had it for $435 (most places have it for
$499.) The eVGA card had pretty good reviews from users and reviewing
websites alike. (I never take reviewing websites word only) The main
reason I ended up going with Nvidia was solely for the fact that their
Linux support has been far and away (IMO) better, and the fact that I've
never had a problem with any of my Nvidia cards.

In tests today; Nvidia's cards are not the fastest, but Nvidia is
promising that it won't disappoint once the new drivers are released.
Drivers can make or break a video card, and Nvidia is pretty good about
their drivers.

This is the card I ended up with.

What I like about the card itself is it was made by Nvidia. I don't
mean just the chipset. The card was made by Nvidia and packaged for
eVGA. That means it should be one of the soundest Nvidia cards on the
market.
