>From the U. S. Constitution:
Section 8 - Powers of Congress
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and
Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general
Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be
uniform throughout the United States;
<snip>
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and
with the Indian Tribes;
>From Merriam-Webster Online:
Tariff
1 a : a schedule of duties imposed by a government on imported or in some
countries exported goods b : a duty or rate of duty imposed in such a schedule
I have proposed legislation to my congressman to: 1) stop ALL outsourcing by
U.S. corporations and 2) cancel ALL H1-B and L-1 visas and send those folks
back home.
The sound of stuck pigs sqealing wouldl be deafening, but the end result is
that 1.5 MILLION jobs would open up to American engineers and technicians
immediately.
Free trade is not our friend. Tariffs are supposed to be used to protect us
from unfair foreign competition. See the part above about "provide for the
common Defence and general Welfare of the United States".
If the current batch of slimey bastards in Wash can't get the message before
election day, let's see that they receive it on election day.
Fred
Not a xenophobe, just a patriot who thinks there are traitors (1 : one who
betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty 2 : one who
commits treason ) in our Congress who are in need of a bucket of tar, a bag of
feathers and a rail on which to be ridden out of town.
