Madhat - & others -

A friend recently bought one of those super cheap Fry's "Thiz Linux" boxes so
she could learn Linux. I took one look at it, tucked it under my arm and took
it home. First thing was to blow away that crap and put in Mdk 9, plus a lot of
extra goodies, like Open Office. She had given me a cd burner to install also.
I had fun that weekend!!! Anyway, I finally got it working and when I tried the
burner I found that each program (xcdroast, gcombust and gnome-toaster) was
necessary because one would excel at making cd copies, one would do music well
and the other would make data cds easier. None on it's own was as good overall
as Adaptec's windoze offerings (good is relative, I know. Maybe I should say
easy-to-use or intuitive or something to indicate that the linux stuff,
although tecnically superior in some respects, is a pain in the ass to use). I
can only hope that enough people will get linux boxes so the Ferengi software
houses will see the profit in writing decent code.

Just my $.02
Fred
ps - on a totally unrelated note: Duke Nuke'm runs really well on my Linux box.
The port works!
