Howdy,
   I see a later note you say you got it working. Good for you.  I think 
you'll like Smoothwall.

   Please look at your first Linksys card and see what the markings on the 
big chip are.  I am pretty sure I have seen different revisions of that 
same nic with different driver chips.  If it is a Digital part, then the 
tulip drivers with Smoothwall should work fine.  The minimal character of 
Smoothwall is a good thing, for the most part.  When I wanted to put extra 
files on a Smoothwall setup a while back, I used a boot floppy from some 
distro that I had around, typed in the mount command for the hard disk and 
copied the files over.  It was probably RedHat at the time.  That was 2 
years ago at least and I don't remember.  Why do you have two hard drives 
in there?  The second one is just a waste of electricity..  Another 
siimilar small firewall, and the one I use now is 
IPCOP.  ipcop.sourceforge.net   I am not sayinf ipcop is better, because 
there is not much difference.  I am just trying an alternative after 
running Smoothwall for a couple of years..
