you can go to http://www.dslreports.com/stest/
and test your speed. This requires a java enabled
browser.
They report:
2003-11-11 06:39:38 EST: 1256 / 133
Your download speed : 1256458 bps, or 1256 kbps.
A 153.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 133177 bps, or 133 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
for my connection.
You can also use ncftp or scp and they will tell
you the throughput of your connection.
