I think you just missing a little bit of faith. :-)  SuSE also has an Oracle 
certified version.  Personally, I've give that a good hard look; they don't 
charge yearly fees IIRC.  I really don't think you have anything to worry 
about with Novell buying SuSE.  Novell *needs* SuSE to work and grow, witness 
IBM's $50M help as a show of support.
