is it a 'card' problem or a routing problem?

When you say 'log into my WAP' what do you mean exactly?

Do you get an IP Address assigned to ethX or some other
interface.

If so... is it a 'real' ip or a fake one ( 192.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x,
10.x.x.x etc )

what is your TCP/IP default route set to when you are trying to connect
to the internet?

if you use mtr or traceroute to get to www.yahoo.com.... what happens?
( use -n to disable name resolution )
