Howdy,
I am not sure about where the exact cutoff is, but I know he does not
mean a G3 or G4(or at least he shouldn't). A New World Mac refers to
the ROM included with the MAC. The New World Mac started about the time
of the iMac, but, offhand I can't tell you where the Blue and Whites
stand. I have a Desktop Beige G3(rev 2) and it is an Old World Mac, The
reason it is important for Knoppix is that the procedure to boot from a
CD is different for Old and New World Macs. At one time, the old World
Macs required proprietary Apple code to boot. My Beige G3 runs Yellow
Dog Linux. When starting it up, I have to boot OS9, then switch to
Linux. New World Macs don't have to do this. They can go right into
Linux.
