No, I was directing this towards your post. Every company is in
business to make a
profit. RedHat is no different. If they offer nothing of value over
the RedHat Personal
version (now released/rebranded as Fedora), then no one will by RedHat.
As it is,
RH caters to the business market not the personal market, they now let
Fedora do that.
RH sells services and add on tools to help maintain Linux from an
enterprise wide
perspective.
I don't use RH enterprise, but the value is there for those corporations
that need a
higher level of support/commitment to the product. It takes time and
money to
certify that you have a system that is highly available. (I'm not
saying that Fedora
isn't, it just does not have the certification behind it.) Besides,
when another
vendor needs to contractually back their own product, say Oracle for
instance,
do you think they are going to guarentee it to run on Fedora or RH
Enterprise?
RH is what it is. It fills a need. As long as it accommodates a need
then RH will
stay in businees.
