We do backups to disk, on the machine being backed up, gzipping the
files as we go. Then we use an expect script to automate an ftp session
to copy those backup files to hard drive on another machine on the
network, rotating them out by date (overwriting as they age out).
Also, Knox has a product called Arkeia that looks pretty good. And the
University of Maryland has one called AMANDA (The Advanced *Maryland*
Automatic Network Disk Archiver), which is also good.
