MDK 9.1 comes with a Network Neighbourhood like prog that might be what 
you need.  I would doubt the type of connection tool on your system 
would make a hill of beans to the server.  Being that you're talking to 
an MS admin I doubt that they'd know what kind of tools you have 
available to you.  MS Dial Up Networking is nothing more than a modem 
manager that connects into the GUI through Network Neighbourhood, IIRC.
