[NTLUG:Discuss] No Sound in Mandrake 9.2

Howdy,
I have set up several Linux systems with this audio chip, including a
Mandrake 9.1 system. My Mandrake 9.2 uses the same chip, but I have not
set up the sound since there are no speakers connected anyway. It
usually requires some twiddling to make this sound chip work in any
distro, but the results are not bad. Have you run Windows on the system
or does it dual boot? I ask because you are going to need to find the
proper settings (i.e., IO ports, IRQs and DMA settings). The second
choice is to ask you what kind of computer it is. If it is one of the
Dell GX1 boxes(a common computer with this audio embedded), I can give
you the settings. This chip was configured differently by different
manufacturers and we'll most likely need to find out the proper settings
for your computer to be successful.
Good day,
Ralph
