Thanks Stuart, but what I'm trying to do is get rid of the old stuff so
it doesn't clog up the drive.  Also, with the new stuff, once it's
installed, I'm never sure what belongs to what because there are also
directories with files showing outside of /usr/local, so I don't want to
remove something the new version might need.  Maybe that's being
paranoid, and I suppose I could just reinstall the new again after it's
been screwed up, but I don't want to take that chance if I can help it.
