That's mostly why I haven't bothered with uptime lately. Sure,
it's a nice number, and it's fun for bragging rights, but from a
practical standpoint it's just a vanity number.
I tend to value having a secure system more than having the "big
number."
(It's not like I didn't shoot for the number when I could
though--I once got about 190 days of uptime on kernel 2.4.7,
before power outages became more than my UPS could handle. Damn
de-regulated Texas power industry.)
