[NTLUG:Discuss] Web page advertisers causing browser freeze

Guys, this is REALLY ticking me off! Click on a web page, watch the
bottom status bar and see what advertisers the page is loading content
from. It seems that almost every time I click on a page, if it goes to
media.fastclick.net or .com, the browser completely freezes up. And
this is not just from Mozilla, but from IE, from Netscape and Firefox.
It seems every browser I have hates that site and I wind up having to
open up a terminal window to kill the browser. This is REALLY annoying
when you're actually trying to get to something!

Am I missing something here? Is there some way to block content from
specific sites that seem to cause problems like this? Not only does it
cause the browser to freeze, but sometimes takes up a lot of CPU cycles
that causes the whole machine to turn to molasses until I can get a
terminal window opened to kill the browser. Is there maybe something
else going on besides just the browser issue that I should be looking
for?

Thanks,

Wayne
