Well, maybe on a Sony, but I am currently running Gentoo on my Dell 
Inspiron 1100.  Previously I had it on an older Dell Inspiron 7500.  
Gentoo takes a little more work to get set up than RH or SuSE, but IMHO 
it is a lot nicer once you have it up and going.  Having portage is one 
of the nicest things ever.
