Perhaps another approach:  I've had really good luck with the WLAN
DriverLoader utility from Linuxant--it enabled my internal Intel
wireless NIC with no problems and runs great (otherwise I've been
unable to find wireless drivers for the Intel card).  Free 30-day
trial, $19.95 if you want the license (cheaper than a new NIC).
Their site claims to support almost any PC-Card or PCI-based
wireless NIC.
