Interesting! This has been a puzzement for me because I specified the
ISP's DNS servers in the KPPP setup, yet a ping to them returned the
'icmp open socket: Operation not permitted' error. I'll try deleting
that and see if it works. I'm not familiar with how to pass "useperdns"
to pppd, but let me try playing with the DNS settings first. We'll see
how that goes. It may also be covered in the paper you directed me to.
