Here is what I use in my .fetchmailrc file: ( all on one line )

poll
incoming.verizon.net
proto pop3
user "username"
pass "password"
smtpname "jack+verizon at myremote-box-name"
no keep

this pops the mail off of verizon and puts it in my
imap account I use for all of my mail. I use fetchYahoo
to do something similar with yahoo.
