After talking with Dave, there are no errata planned which would rebase the
FC1 kernel to a newer upstream release (considering the amount of work
required for nptl and 0(1) scheduler on AMD64, this is not a bad thing).
While generally bug fixes have gotten backported for errata release
kernels, drivers such as e1000 typically do not. As a result, I have
included an SRPM that can be rebuilt on Fedora systems to provide support
for your nic. To build the RPM for your kernel please use 'CC=gcc32 rpmbuild
--rebuild e1000-5.2.39-1.src.rpm' Please keep this SRPM around as you will
need to rebuild any time that a new kernel is installed. Once built you
can install with rpm -ivh
You can download the SRPM from:
http://www.linuxtx.org/e1000-5.2.39-1.src.rpm
For Fedora Core 2, none of this should be necessary.
