[NTLUG:Discuss] Mozilla crash issues

I have mozilla 1.6, (not rpm installed).  Everything works fine.  But
periodically and its starting again, It will crash, closing all open
windows, everything.  Previous google and archive searches tell me to
delete the profile, if that doesn't work delete the entire .mozilla
diretory, this does take care of the problem for a month or two, and the
problem begins to creep in.  First a crash once a week, then a couple of
times a week, accelerating until it crashes after about 1 minute or two.

My question is - what is the problem and what can I do to prevent it. 
yes I can redo my profile pretty simply.  But why should I need to...you
would figure an issue like this would be pretty high on the "to fix"
list of the folks at mozilla.
