Well, if you have loop support configured as a module, just edit
/etc/modules.conf (or if you have /etc/conf.modules)with:
Options loop max_loop=xx
xx being the number of loop devices
Then if you don't have any loop devices mounted you can use rmmod and insmod
to make the change take effect

I would like to know how to do it both ways. Perhaps the best for now 
would be to pass max_loop to the module. The system is a default RH9 
install. What module do I pass max_loop to and can you give an example 
command line?
