Howdy,
I think I have the perfect board for you. I would recommend a dual
head Matrox G450. They are well supported in Linux, have very good 2D
performance and a great picture. The dual head lets you add a second
monitor, if you want one. The best part is they are cheap. $25 or so
on eBay.
They have two faults that I know of. Neither should affect you. They
are not the best for games because of minimal 3D support. They are bad
for some new motherboards. They left off a notch that newer
motherboards use to detect that they are a high voltage card(3.3V, I
think) Some new motherboards will self destruct if such a video card is
plugged in. Your motherboard should be safe. It is a Serverworks or a
GX chipset, right?
Good luck,
Ralph
