Find me a distro that doesnt ship with a ton of modules.  The nice thing
about modules is the fact that they do not have to be in active memory if
they are not loaded, but by nature of a distro, a ton of modules is
required.  The only exceptions might be with yellow dog, who has a limited
set of hardware to support.
