Correct me if I'm wrong, but when I used RH 7.2/7.2, and heck, RH 9... There
was no "free tech support 800 number to call". How is what they're doing
with Fedora any different?

Take away the trusted name and you might as well install Debian. This is the
point. This is why this split is problematic for the PHB crowd even if it
won't bother those for whom Redhat was their second distro back at version
3.0.3.
