... why do you 'have no choice'?  
Put in a linux install cd, boot, install and go. 

evolution 	- IMAP / POP mail client
mozilla/firefox - web browser
ooffice  	- microsoft office documents. 

I've gotten my whole department ( 3 people... but a whole department ) 
to switch to linux. The only down side is when the latest windows
virus/worm invades the network, we can't shut down, go home and wait 
for the IT department to clean up our machines. ;(
