Where I work, my net admin has said all machines in my classroom are
mine to do with as I please, so long as I do not damage them physically
or violate licensing contracts. Last place I worked they were so
paranoid about licensing and the machine's guarantees that I was told
only to turn the machines on. Place before that the bosses could get
away with murder (One tried), and nothing would happen. One of the
drones tried going into the bios setup just to see what was there (It
was a start up prompt option that IT had not turned off or blocked), and
he was fired on the spot. This was a company which did not fire workers
on the spot for going ballistic on the bosses or other employees. It
just depends on the company.
