Yes, but construction type plays a BIG role in this.  I did an install 
in a house built in the 1930's the walls were basically a Faraday cage -
the old plaster, lathe & chicken wire will screw up your signal big
time.

Try doing a RF map with an access point/router.  Anyone you
know has gear you can try before you buy?
