Ok...two things:

1).  Am I missing the point...or do you mean Gigabit networking - rather
than GHz?

2).  You're running into that 'ceiling' (flying term - thought
appropriate) not because of CPU or RAM...but because of the limitations
on PCI bus contention.  You need to wait until the PCI-X or, better yet,
the PCI-Express become the standard - which can/will have a dedicated
bus for network - then Gigabit network will REALLY fly - irregardless of
CPU or RAM...

I know it's a new thing for us here in North Texas...but we must
'consult TheBS' on this subject - (I'm sure he'll chime in and explain)
