The device I used cost me around 20 bucks + my time and effort making it
priceless of course. I used an 89c420 from dallas semiconductor and a
1-wire temp sensor a serial interface to a linux box which recorded the
temps to a mysql database so I could pull them later for trending. I have
since moved up to the TINI board from dallas semi which has a built in
ethernet port and I attached a 1wire ds1820 temperature sensor. I can
record temperatures at intervals and timestamp them for storage when I can't
communicate with the server.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] Q: Temperature logging hardware and software
Pauldy just mentioned this, and I've been thinking about this for a
while so I thought I'd ask the group if they had any details/ideas...
I want to record the attic ( maybe a couple of spots )
temperature along with an indoor and outdoor reading.
Does anyone know of a simple ( less than $100.00 )
solution?
I know that FRY's has some Weather Monitors for $20 - $50
that let you have multiple sensors.... I want to be able
to get these readings into my PC every 'x' minutes. I haven't
seen any cheap devices that have a PC interface.
Thanks - jack
