[NTLUG:Discuss] Fedora 2 termcap/ncurses issue

I've been messing around with fedora core 2 for a while now and I'm
wondering if I'm the only one with this problem.  Apparently, ncurses is way
messed up in fedora.  When I ssh in from my windows box and use anything
that has to do with ncurses I get unreadable text on the screen and
characters that don't make sense.  I've force ncurses-extra terms from a
mandrake install as this has fixed similar problem in mandrake with no luck.
Is there a fix for this in fedora?

My term type is cygwin and the /etc/termcap file matches the file from
mandrake as well as the file /usr/share/terminfo/c/cygwin.  The mandrake
system works fine with my test of
