It's already happening, and people are migrating in record setting
numbers. Far more than what was predicted in any guestimate by any
of the so-called leading analysts. Hundreds if not thousands of startup
companies are basing their software (including high end EDA areas)
on Linux.
I don't know when Autodesk will take AutoCAD to Linux... but they'll
have to eventually. I hate to say be patient, but I really don't
think it will take much longer for the major apps to move (Anti-Linux
companies like M$ notwitstanding).
For now, I'd look at http://www.bricscad.com/
They're first Linux product will use wine, but they seem committed in
supporting Linux with a future native version.
