This layout will allow you to set up a printer directly connected to the 
parallel/usb port and avoid further configuration woes.  Simply subnet 
the conference room to a small number of DHCP addresses and configure a 
DENY in your NAT/firewall rules.  A simple DMZ is in effect.

I have the ultimate IP addressing book, TCP/IP Addressing by Buck Graham
ISBN 0-12-295021-6.  It explains this topology well.  Kinda hurts my 
head when I read it though...

Also, IPv6 can be used to make your conference room addresses invisible 
to the rest of the clients on the network.  There is also IP 
Multicast...  Ouch (hair on fire).
