I too have found the HP Insight mgr to be a real bear on Linux
(sucks up resources and memory.. leaky, leaky).

I've used cacti to do snmp monitoring and found it to be nice...
but you'll have to get the defs setup to monitor the fancy stuff
on an HP... probably still have to run the client piece to
populate the mibs.
