Oracle recommends it. Their paper #295 discusses it. Part of their "SAME"
storage methodology.

Can I ask why you need a stripe size so large?
and I'm really NOT trying to be argumentative guy... just wanting to
understand the root reason a little better...

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] lv striping
I need to set up an lv that has a "stripe depth" of 1 meg. I have looked on
google and the various man pages that I am aware of to no avail.
The only thing close I have seen is lvcreate -I (stripesize), but that only
appears to go up to 8kb. I However, I may be mis-reading the man page. It
says the number must be 2^n (2 - 9). That could mean that a maximum of 512k
stripe size (hopefully the same as depth) could be achieved. Either way,
that doesn't get me to the magical 1 meg level.
Also, what is the preferred method of disassembling an lv?
Any ideas?

TIA,
Monty
