I don't think rebate hassles are particular to Fry's, but yes, rebates 
are decidedly inconvenient.  The check may never come so save your work, 
be prepared to resubmit and remember it as much as 6 months later. When 
it does come in the mail it'll more than likely look like junk mail. So 
if you don't end up throwing it away, or you don't forget to re-submit, 
you may get it, eventually, and you may even get to cash it, if your 
lucky, and if you actually read your junk mail to make sure it's not a 
rebate check in disguise.
